Print Rig connects orders, branded asset generation and vendor fulfillment in one print-production workflow. I built the system to make practice launches easier to produce, reducing hands-on print preparation from approximately 30 minutes to 1-2 minutes per typical launch.

A coordinated family of practice-launch materials.
01 / The thinking

Design for the work that repeats

Preparing a practice launch meant customizing a family of print materials with each client’s logo and information. The visual work needed consistency, but much of the preparation repeated the same steps. I built Print Rig around that recurring production task.

The system began as a local tool for designers and developed into a hosted workflow with brand profiles, reusable templates, order tracking and notifications. My contribution connected the print designs and asset preparation with the information needed to move an order through production.

02 / The thinking

Connect the screen to the physical result

The design problem continued beyond generating files. I worked with the print vendor on packaging, established shipping arrangements and built on an earlier ShipStation fulfillment foundation. The vendor uses that workflow to organize the required items, production and delivery.

A human quality review remains part of the process. Automation handles repeatable preparation while review retains a place for judgment before the work moves on. The broader onboarding-to-app-to-social integration is a separate development effort; it is not a prerequisite for describing the print workflow.

03 / What changed

Less preparation. More room for judgment.

30 min → 1-2 min

Estimated hands-on preparation per typical practice launch

My operational estimate is approximately 30 minutes of hands-on preparation before Print Rig and 1-2 minutes with it. This is preparation effort, not elapsed production, fulfillment or shipping time.

The value is a repeatable path from a practice’s brand inputs to a coordinated physical kit, with the production details and review still accounted for.
